Personal Information
Dr. Brenna Harris embodies what it means to be a ‘Pacific Northwesterner.’ Born and raised on a farm in the small town of Kittitas, Washington, she developed an appreciation for rural life and agricultural communities that has remained with her throughout the years. After attending high school near Seattle, Dr. Harris returned to the “East Side” of the state for her undergraduate studies. It was during her time at Washington State University that Dr. Harris’ desire to give back to others and care for the under-served was reinforced.
After spending a summer in Guatemala to volunteer at a shelter and learn Spanish, Dr. Harris went on to graduate with honors from WSU and earn a degree in Molecular Biology. She later went on a medical mission to Honduras with Global Medical Brigades, where she helped provide free care and medical supplies to over 300 patients with extremely limited access to healthcare. During her time in Southern California, Dr. Harris became a coordinator at the Montclair Clinic where she helped train other providers and cared for the homeless. She went on to complete her Residency at East Pierce Family Medicine, where she served as Chief Resident.
While her medical degree took her to California, her deep ties and strong desire to return to the Pacific Northwest to raise her family and practice medicine never wavered. While she admits that it was difficult to leave one of her favorite places – Disneyland- we are grateful that Dr. Harris’ goal to ‘come home’ remained intact! The Harris family is thrilled to finally settle down in an area that offers the amenities and opportunities of a big city while maintaining a ‘small town feel and wide-open spaces.’ After years of living near Los Angeles and Seattle, they are especially thankful for Pullman’s lack of traffic and outstanding schools for their three children. Dr. Harris and her husband are looking forward to becoming active members of the community and engaging in all that the Palouse has to offer. Their daughter, who quickly took to the beauty of the region, particularly enjoys the “cotton candy sunsets;” and they can’t wait to enjoy more of them in the years to come.
When not in the office, Dr. Harris enjoys spending as much time as possible with her amazing family. Having three young children at home keeps their lives full and busy. Between their kids’ school, sports, and numerous outdoor activities including camping, hiking, fishing, mountain biking, and even whitewater rafting. Whenever possible, the Harris family enjoys traveling to new locations, attending sporting events and concerts. She also loves reading and welcomes any recommendations on the “must reads” or next best seller lists.
